Mixing Faith In the Marketplace.

Being strong in your personal spiritual life can be a great asset on the job and in your company.  God’s presence and strength don’t make a person less capable to perform but quite the opposite.  Having a personal relationship with Jesus gives you access to His wisdom and understanding.  Tony Dungy coached the Baltimore Colts to a Super Bowl Victory, and he never hid his own life of faith.
God’s presence in our lives helps us to become the person God made us to be.  Since He made us and planned our destiny, He can certainly give us insight on maximizing our potential.  The key is a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ that is based upon faith in His life, His suffering on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead.  Through believing and confessing Jesus to be the Lord and Master of our lives, we are born again.  God changes our very nature and we are spiritually reborn to become children of God.
The founder and owner of Interstate Batteries, a worldwide corporation, Norm Miller, has openly incorporated God’s principles into how the company is run.  Through his personal relationship with Christ, he has directed his company to focus on integrity and honesty.  As a Christian, you can strengthen your place of employment by being a person who is honest and full of integrity.  Keeping your word, telling the truth, reporting facts accurately, and refusing to undermine leadership are all ways to make a better company.
Working hard, working smart and working with excellence should be trademarks for a person professing their faith in Jesus Christ.  Being a Christian should never excuse a person for being lazy, ineffective or sloppy in their work performance.  The Bible says, “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17).  The apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Colosse this powerful word, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23-24).
The attributes of a good worker should be the lifestyle of a true believer.  Showing respect, demonstrating good manners, exercising self-control, going the extra mile and being faithful, friendly and helpful are simply basic for what is to be expected.
Bob Parker, of Parker Drilling, has proven you can be a Christian and a CEO of a major worldwide company.  His prayer life has carried him through many ups and downs in the drilling industry.  Being the best and giving your best are part of the package in this quest to let your light shine in the business world.  People want to know what has caused you to succeed.  Then it’s time to give the Lord the glory, honor and praise He deserves.
